2026 IFMA Huntsville Chapter Scholarship Report

The IFMA Huntsville Chapter proudly continued its commitment to advancing education in 2026 by awarding three individual $2,500 educational scholarships and one $1,500 educational scholarship to deserving students attending Calhoun Community College and Drake State Community and Technical College, respectively.

I recently had the privilege of visiting the campus of Drake State Community and Technical College in Huntsville, Alabama, where I met this year's IFMA Huntsville Chapter scholarship recipient, Adam Donovan. During my visit, I had the opportunity to speak with Adam about his educational goals and career aspirations. 

All scholarship recipients have expressed sincere appreciation for the support provided by the IFMA Huntsville Chapter. They agreed that these scholarships will help them continue pursuing a quality education by easing the financial burden of college while allowing them to remain focused on their academic and career goals. All four recipients were both humbled and grateful for the chapter's continued investment in their education and future success.

Calhoun Community College:

Craig Aston
Advanced Manufacturing Program | GPA: 3.9

Craig is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Industrial Maintenance with a minor in Electrical Technology at Calhoun. His long-term goal is to become an electrician or work in a profession centered on electrical systems. Craig believes his educational path aligns perfectly with his hands-on experience and career aspirations.

For Craig, education represents opportunity, stability, and progress. He views earning his degree as an investment in expanding his technical skills, increasing his earning potential, and providing long-term security for his family. This scholarship will allow him to focus more fully on his studies while maintaining stability at home. Craig has demonstrated exceptional resilience, commitment, and personal growth throughout his educational journey.

Elijah Reed
Advanced Manufacturing Program | GPA: 3.2

Elijah enrolled at Calhoun Community College in 2023 to pursue a degree in Industrial Maintenance. He believes education is the foundation of his future. Although his journey has not been without challenges, Elijah is proud of the person he has become.

Maintaining a solid 3.2 GPA, Elijah credits his personal experiences with teaching him resilience, time management, and the value of hard work. He is committed to making the most of every educational opportunity and hopes to use the knowledge he gains to uplift others and inspire future generations to pursue goals beyond their circumstances.

Jackson Woods
Advanced Manufacturing Program | GPA: 4.0

Jackson is committed to continuing his education while building a meaningful future through hard work, determination, and service to others. He plans to pursue an Associate's Degree in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and this scholarship will provide significant support in achieving that goal.

Jackson's long-term objective is to become a certified HVAC technician and eventually establish his own business. He recognizes that earning his associate's degree is the critical first step toward realizing that vision. Jackson is determined to complete his education with pride and gratitude and is committed to giving back to his community throughout his professional career.

Drake State Community and Technical College:

Adam Donovan
Engineering Design Program | GPA: 2.7

Adam is currently enrolled in the Engineering Design program. He was drawn to engineering because it combines creativity with logical problem-solving to develop practical solutions that improve lives. Whether designing sustainable systems, improving infrastructure, or advancing technology, Adam believes engineering provides an opportunity to continue serving others through innovation and meaningful impact.

Adam shared:
"This scholarship will help me gain the education and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society while also achieving financial security. I am eager to bring my heart for service and my growing technical knowledge together to build a career that honors both purpose and progress."

Adam plans to continue his education at Drake State while maintaining full-time employment, where he can immediately apply the knowledge and skills he is gaining through his coursework.

The IFMA Huntsville Chapter's commitment to education extends far beyond the scholarships we award each year—it is a lasting investment in the future of our profession, our workforce, and our community. Each of this year's recipients has demonstrated exceptional determination, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to achieving their educational and career goals.
